In response to Kamil Kozuchs eighth reading
The view of hacker managing time in his own way is not applicable in todays fast pace life. In this age of technology where information is abundantly available, at least quantitatively, time management is very important. We certainly don't have the leisure of working when we want to work. There are deadlines to be met. Time is money.

I think you may be missing the point of the hacker ethic. Imagine your favorite hobby, let's say it is running. So when you run then you have the hacker ethic. I think the author argues that you should be merging the two together as close as possible. As a separate note about time being money, the hacker community has lots of users and fosters collaboration. So you may only be able to devote 1 hour per week, but if 1,000 other people do the same amount then you can create something great.
